POKLJUKA PLATEAU

IN TRIGLAV

NATIONAL PARK

Pokljuka is the biggest karst plateau inside the Triglav National Park. It's dimensions are around 20 x 20 kilometres. Forested with wealthy spruce trees gives you a refreshing welcome during the whole year. Of course we love it much more during the winter time. Once it's covered with the snow, x-country trail's options are endless.

You can choose to ski on a perfectly groomed trails around the Biathlon Sports centre - stadium at Rudno polje or spend your day in the pristine nature of the mountain pasture Javorniki. And all in the middle! Scenes and views are just awesome here, we find out that it may be wonderful even on a grey misty day.

We recommend Javorniki pasture for medium to better skiers, because once you make few kilometres over here, you also need to come back to your parking car at the end. In a normal snowy winter season it is normally possible to do x-country skiing until late March.

Since Pokljuka Plateau is on a quite high altitude - from 1200 to 1450 metres and away from any nearby phone signal coverage - is very handy to have a GPS-track receiver in your pocket. Or even better on your wrist! In our case - Polar M400 personal computer plays an amazing role.

Lot of options give you a detailed view about your current location, duration, distance, etc. And not to forget a special function - it guides you back to the starting point! How cool is that?! On a whole it is very resistant to cold, so you do not need to worry about during winter activities. On the right side you can see a screen view inside the native Polar Flow app - it is everything you need to know about your recent adventures and activities.
